Baleal – distance 15 minutes
This is a basic seafood restaurant serving very fresh fish. Try the Cherne (Turbot) or for a special treat the king prawns or the lobster and crabs. This restaurant is great at lunchtime when the weather is good. You can sit outside and it is located directly on the beach. (no need to book)

Obidos – distance 20 minutes
This is a wonderful Pousada found in Obidos. The food and service are good (traditional Portuguese) and a bit more formal than normally found in the region. If you can, try to book a table which is next to a window and gives wonderful views. (Booking preferable Tel No 062 959 105)

Bombarral - distance 30 minutes
It is our favorite restaurant in the area. They bring you out lots of plates of delicacies and specials that you can try. We had 8 courses last time we went! If you want to try the real Portuguese culture, food and wines then you must try this restaurant. This restaurant is situated near to Bomberral off the A8 towards Lisbon. It is a 20minute drive from the resort. Turn off the A8 signposted Bomberral. Take a left at the T junction. Carry on for around 500m until you come to a mini-roundabout. Take the second exit off. Wind your way for around a km until you come to a small village. Keep left. The restaurant is on the left hand side before you go round the corner towards the church. Wine list is excellent!

Caldas Da Rainha – distance 30 minutes
This was the first Thai Restaurant opened in Portugal. It is pristine clean and the food very good. The owner speaks good English. (Booking preferable if only to check it is open 262 842 920). He also does a take-away to collect.

A quite formal traditional Portuguese restaurant and is very popular with Portuguese families. The cooking is slightly more innovative than normal. The couvert is particularly so. Booking not normally required but it may be worth ringing as an insurance policy (Tel No 262 823 432)

Obidos – distance 20 minutes
Beautifully situated in the Rua Direita (main street within the walls). It serves a strange mixture of food but it is all very good. (Specialises in Pastas and steaks). This a good place to try the local drink speciality Ginja. (Booking is not essential but may be preferable because it is small. Tel No 262 959 620)

Serra del Rey – distance 10 minutes
Pizzas and local specialities of fish and black pork. Pizzas handmade and cooked in traditional oven. All good and large. They are happy for a pizza to be shared! Good hospitality and English. Busy spot but not usually necessary to book. They also do pizzas to take away.

Excellent sea food, fabulous sunset over the ocean, Eat earlier than nomal to get the sunsets. Directions – go out of the resort past the golf clubhouse and driving range. Past the new village. Follow the road towards Obidos Lagoon. 7km there is a T junction. Take the left turn. 1 km big sign to Rio Cortico. Go down sandy track to sea, sun fish and solitude. One of our favourites for fish.

Obidos - distance 30 minutes
Located in an old cellar just otside the walls of Obidos. Highquality décor and food with slightly higher prices than the norm. Local speciality Pato com Arroz (duck rice) and of course Bacalhau (dried codfish) and Caldo Verde (potato and cabbage) soup.

Peniche – distance 15 minutes
Popular is a fish restaurant, although you dine beneath very basic orning the food is superb. The restaurant is located near the large car park on the seafront next to the fort.
