Portugal’s silver coast is an area of outstanding unspoilt natural beauty, which fortunately has thus far to be discovered by the mass tourism industry and has kept its Portuguese character and appeal. Some of the country’s most impressive architectural, religious and historical sites can be found in this province; And in less than an hours drive from Lisbon International airport.
Situated between Lisbon and Oporto the Costa de Prata (as it is known locally) consists of picturesque coastline stretches with near empty beaches and an abundance of charming fishing towns.
The pleasant temperatures and white sandy beaches offer perfect rudiments for the idyllic seaside existence of Sun, Sea and Surf! The local way of life as one can imagine is very relaxed and typically Portuguese (of course ideal for holidaying!); nevertheless their kindness is very welcoming.
For lovers and fanatics alike for the game of Golf; the province offers a selection of beautiful and challenging courses; however the area is dominated by the spectacle championship course at Praia d’el Rey.
The region also offers a range of gastronomic experiences; although strongly influenced by the ocean (with numerous recommended fish and shell-fish dishes), there is however something for everyone’s taste. And as a perfect accompaniment to the rich gastronome, the region is the home to many superb vineyards. The area is considered to be a chief wine growing region in Portugal, and indeed the world.
